The Adventure Pack is set up in a game format for articulation drill and practice. One of the key components to correcting an articulation disorder is repetitive practice saying sounds correctly. This is very boring aspect to speech therapy in which students need to be actively engaged and focused. To accomplish this, SLPs frequently use games to get the students interest and to hold their attention. The use of high interest games is very desirable because children are more willing to practice when they are engaged in a fun activity. Subsequently, the more they practice the quicker their newly acquired speech sounds will become a natural part of their conversational speech. The computer games we have developed offer high interest and extensive repetitive practice, because we have combined true video games with articulation drills to make therapy fun.

Our interactive software is for articulation drill/practice once a child can produce the sounds correctly in words, and needs practice to habituate the correct production. The child should be able to produce the target sounds in isolation, syllables and in words without the aid of cues BEFORE the software would be beneficial.

Features:

• 4 different games at varying levels of difficulty to fit the ages and gaming skills of your students.
• Targets the most commonly misarticulated sounds: F, V, K, G, R, S, L, SH, TH, and CH.
• Practice at word, phrase or sentence level.
• Audio and visual stimulus for 480 words, 480 phrases and 480 sentences.
• 24 words in the initial position and 24 words in the final position (for the TH sound there are 16 initial, 16 medial and 16 final).

Adventure Pack Game Description

• Swamp Adventure: Try to get across the swamp before an alligator gets you!
• Mountain Adventure: Climb to the top of the mountain but watch out for falling rocks, icicles, and butting mountain goats!
• Ski Doodle Adventure: Ride your ski doodle through the racecourse collecting flags and points but watch out for sharks and crabs!
• Jungle Adventure: make your way through the jungle collecting pineapples for points but watch out for pits, unfriendly natives, snakes and giant mosquitoes!
